What is the MUKISA programme?

The MUKISA programme creates opportunities and supports the integration of the Asylum Seeker and Refugee Community. We build the capacity of individuals and communities through training and learning opportunities. We know that barriers to education and lack of familiarity with the Irish employment system limits opportunity to be confident and active citizens in Ireland. We offer self-development opportunities, we break down cultural, language and social barriers and offer open access to learning. We focus on enabling positive integration so that individuals are empowered economically and socially.

Our Vision

A world where our geographical location does not need to match our place of birth in order for us to thrive in society.

Our Mission

To expose the systems we inhabit and raise the voices of those oppressed by them; through access to education, leadership development, empowerment and participation.

How we support participants

We are all about supporting you so that you can reach your full potential with confidence, through building a positive future where you will be better able to find work or go onto further education.
Some of the areas our programme cover include:
  • Personal Effectiveness

  • Communicating Effectively

  • Leadership

  • Human Rights

  • Human Development

  • Information Advice & Advocacy

  • Work Experience & Work Practice

Qualifications are achieved through the QQI Level 5 and Level 6 Framework

Our Participants' Experiences

Listen to the stories of our participants Jerome, Hanane, Teboho and Blaise. They speak to the difference it has made in their lives and the opportunities it has opened up for them.

I've got a much needed confidence boost. Through the course you realise 'I've still got it, I can still do this'. Since the course I'm flying it!
